U – 12’s July Report

Moreland are going through a very lean spell at the moment with no goal for three weeks for two losses and a draw.

"We have been a lot of chances but a combination of poor finishing and good goalkeeping has stifled them. We will be relieved when the drought finally breaks," coach Maurice Ryan said.

"We have been on top overall for three weeks but have only managed one point. We are looking forward to getting three points next Sunday," he added.

Small Sided Games

Moreland has 25 kids turn up every Monday evening (5.30) and Saturday morning (10.30). They work hard at improving their skills and teamwork in a fun and friendly environment.

Moreland City FC has hosted Green Gully and Fawkner over the past few weeks for mini-carnivals.

The below photos are taken from the Fawkner game on Saturday August 2nd.

Preston Lions 0 - 4 Moreland City: July 13 2008

The U-12’s had a very convincing 4 – 0 away win against Preston Lions.

Most players were playing in unfamiliar positions and handled the challenge extremely well. It was very pleasing to see the goals shared around among players who don’t normally feature on the scoresheet. We go swimming instead of ball work next Tuesday (July 22nd)

Maurice is looking for a big effort for the last five games. They are all winnable and that might just clinch second spot.

Moreland City U11's 2 - 2 Mitchell Rangers: July 13 2008

A great game of Football was played by the Moreland U11's this Sunday with the team showing good passing skills which opened up the Mitchell defense on numerous occasions.

Moreland attacked for most of the 1st half as Rangers defended with 9 players in their own penalty area for most of the game. The ball missed the goals on at least four occasions as Conner Firth produced a great shot on the left while James Palladino tormented the Rangers defense also just missing the goal.

Solid work in central defense by Felix Bennetts and Matthew Thomas kept Mitchell Rangers to only a couple of attacks.

It was all Moreland in the second half as well but Rangers took advantage of the all out Moreland offensive to score two goals on the counter attack within 10 minutes.

Again, Rangers resorted to putting 10 players behind the ball but mounting pressure by Brandyn Snaize, Connor, Sam and Patrick, finally broke the Rangers defense as James showed some great ball skill to weave pass a crowded area and score.

More pressure by Moreland on the Rangers goal, produced a clear penalty for bringing down a Moreland player, which James masterly converted past the keeper to score his 2nd and Morelands equaliser.

It was a great team effort and showed there are no limits to how far these players can go.

Skill and entertainment were the winners in this great display of Football.

Well done Boys!
